Annual Spring Performance
The culmination of our dance studies throughout the year
is exhibited in the annual June Spectacular spring performance. It
is a time of great excitement for the children as well as
their parents. This performance is intended to instill
a sense of pride and accomplishment in our dancers, demonstrating
what they've learned during the last dance season. This
is the largest production of the year and attendance typically
exceeds 2000 guests as we close out the dance season.
Capitol Kickline & Master Class Workshops
This
fun unique event is held annually on the Capitol steps in
Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to celebrate National Dance Week. The
event was created in 1999 by Miss Janice (the founder of
Studio `91) who currently serves as event co-chair. Endorsed
by the Greater Harrisburg Arts Council, numerous dance studios
around the region participate in this free event, bringing
more than 400 dancers of all ages. The day is rounded
out with a variety of dance workshops with special guest
instructors. To learn more, visit www.capitolkickline.com.
Fall Frolic Master Class Workshops
Studios from around the region converge every Fall in either October or November to attend master class workshops instructed by renowned choreographers in the art of ballet / lyrical, jazz / hip hop, and tap (subject to change based on demand.) Dancers age 6 through adult are invited to participate. To learn more visit www.capitolkickline.com
Pumpkin Fest
Studio `91 was invited to perform at the East Pennsboro
Pumpkin Fest on Oct. 6, 2007, from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.
Visit www.pennsboropumpkinfest.com to
learn more. Dancers will also be selling apple butter to
earn their way to Disney!
Annual Holiday Show
During our holiday show, Studio `91 dancers perform a variety of pieces. Often a specific theme for the production is set in advance and all studio dancers are given the opportunity to participate in this fun and seasonal demonstration. The exhibition includes Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Modern. In 2006 our theme was the Land of Sweet Dances.
'Twas the Night Before Christmas
Dancers from Studio `91 present their unique 90 minute interpretation of the holiday classic, ’Twas the Night Before Christmas. This timeless story is told through ballet, tap, and jazz choreography, set to live and pre-recorded music ranging from classical to contemporary. The narrated production typically includes more than 65 dancers ages 6 to 18, and studio instructors too. The routines are produced through the cooperative effort of local and national choreographers. This special biennial performance is held every other year – with years ending in odd numbers i.e. 2007 – 2009 – 2011.
Disney Trip
Every 5 years dancers from Studio `91, involved in specialty classes, are given the opportunity to join us for a trip to Orlando, Florida to perform as part of Disney’s Magic Music Days. Our dancers submit an audition tape one year prior to receive consideration for this honor. Dancers in age from 4th to 12th grade perform before visitors at the world’s most popular amusement park. The dancers also participate in “Disney Dancin” workshops. As a performing group we typically stay at the All Star Music Resort and arrange a variety of entertaining activities, events and meals for both dancers and their families. Our third trip to Disney is scheduled for 2009!
