Dress Code

Clothing

Girls are expected to wear:

bullet

Solid black leotard - no sequins / no attached skirts

bullet

Pink or white tights with feet (convertibles acceptable)

bullet

Hair fastened securely away from face and neck.  (3rd grade and up should have hair in a bun for all classes.)

bullet

Skirts are acceptable for kindergarten & up (scarves are not acceptable as skirts) - no sequins.

bullet

Skirts should not be fastened to leotard .

bullet

Skirts should be sheer and not hang below mid upper thigh.

bullet

Kindergarten through 3rd grades may wear elastic wasted skirts.

bullet

4th grades and up may wear wrap around tie style skirts.

Special Ballet classes require:

Solid black leotard - no sequins

bullet

Pink/white tights

bullet

Hair in a bun

Extra Jazz & Tap classes:

  • Black leotards
  • Pink/white/tan tights

Baton students should wear:

Leotard - no sequins

bullet Jazz pants/shorts accepted (purchased at Pirouettes)

Tights

Hair fastened securely away from face and neck

Boys are expected to wear:

Plain white tee shirt  (oversized are not acceptable)

Solid black shorts or pants

bullet

White socks

Shoes 
Please be sure shoes fit properly.  Oversized shoes are awkward and dangerous to the dancers.

Girls are expected to wear:

bullet

Pink leather ballet slippers.  (Split- sole required beginning in second grade.)

bullet

Black tap shoes.  (Not required for pre-school classes.)  Student tap shoe (buckle style preferred) required for Kindergarten through 2nd grade classes. 3rd & 4th grade will need a U-shell tap shoe (patent leather / no ties).  5th grade and up will need tap oxfords.

Black split-sole oxford-style jazz shoes are necessary for students in Extra Jazz Classes and in 4th grade and up combination classes.  (Black/pink jazz sneakers are acceptable for class work, but oxford-style is required for the June Show.)

Baton students expected to wear:

Black jazz oxfords.

Boys are expected to wear:

bullet

Black leather ballet shoes

bullet

Black tap shoes

bullet

Black split-sole oxford style jazz shoes for boys in extra jazz classes and in 4th grade and up combination classes.

Hair and jewelry

bullet

Hair should be worn securely fastened to keep it off the face and neck.  (Braids, ponytails, and buns are acceptable.)

Headbands should be worn for shorter hair.

bullet

No jewelry permitted.

bullet

Dancers in 3rd grade and up must wear their hair in buns for all classes.
